Want a louder iPhone? (2G)

Posted by free iPhone on Thursday Jul 9, 2009 Under free, iphone

Struggling with a quiet 2G iPhone? Want to make it 40% louder? Then read on.

The first thing you need to do is give the holes on the base of the iPhone to the left of the charger port a good clean with a toothbrush and get all that dust and crud out.

After this, take a pin, and gently poke  through some of the centre holes.  Don’t poke too hard but just wiggle it until you feel it burst through a thin plastic sheet.

You will notice the difference straight away without any reduction in sound quality at all.

What a quick and simple strategy!! You sure you don’t get a different sound due to the sheet now being punctured?

This is actually genius, I can be a bit of a defeatest when it comes to things like this and overlook some really obvious practical steps, just like this one. Now, where’s my iphone!

I’m not sure I’d like the idea of puncturing through the plastic sheet. After that all that dirt and grime will end up inside the phone rather than on the sheet.

I like/loce the idea of this being such a simple fix, but I have to ask about the consequences of the dirt ending up on the inside of my iPhone? I tend to look at things and they break, let alone when I poke something inside them!

I’m sure it works in terms of increasing the maximum volume, but what happens when dust starts to get into the little holes and clogs them up? Your sound is likely to go back down and even worse, dust can’t be good for the interior parts of the iPhone.
