As brilliant as Apple itself is, it is still amazing to know that almost one billion iPhone and iPod Touch applications have been downloaded from its iTunes App Store in such a short period of time. An average of over 100 million downloads per month is likely to touch the billion mark by early May.

To celebrate its success, Apple will be offering $10,000 worth gift cards to a lucky person who will also receive a 17-inch MacBook Pro, an iPod touch, and a Time Capsule.

Here’s the deal, every application downloaded will be counted as a separate entry. Non-iPhone owners can also enter to win without purchase.  To be honest, the chances of winning are very rare so don’t get your hopes too high. You’re looking at about a 70 million to one shot to win.

To enter the competition you should be in United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland or the United Kingdom.

Entries are limited to users 13 years and older from participating countries. Users are limited to 25 entries per day, and the contest closes when the billionth app is downloaded.

After receiving numerous free items over the last year I think it’s time to run a competition to win an iPhone.
